Creating a Brand that brings you JOY

It’s officially 2024, and we’re kicking this year off with some insight on creating a brand that brings you joy and resonates with your followers.

As I’ve mentioned before, a brand is more than the fonts and colors you use. Those aspects play a part in bringing it all together, but the more important piece of branding is how you make people feel. What do followers feel when they see your social media posts? What do clients feel when they interact with you? And what does your service or product do to support and transform your clients' lives?

So let’s talk about it.

Some questions to ask yourself when creating a new brand, or overhauling one you already created:

  • What do my ideal clients need most?

  • What emotions do I want my posts to evoke?

  • How do I want my followers to interact with me?

  • Would I rather: entertain, educate, provoke thought, or inspire? Or a combo?

  • What does my client experience include?

  • How am I supporting my clients and their lives?

  • What problem am I solving for my clients?

  • How is my business unique?

Take these questions and journal on them, really think about each one.

Then think about how you need to show up to embody the answers to those questions.

Should you be partnering with other businesses? Should you be creating short-form video content for social media or creating an entire course? Do you need to come up with topics to educate, or are your followers just looking for something that helps them feel good and escape for a minute?

You also need to consider:

Where your ideal client is hanging out online. Which social platforms? What other businesses are they interacting with that you can partner with? Can you guest post on a blog by another business that serves your ideal clients?

One really important aspect of creating your own business and brand, is that you don’t have to do this alone. This is something I was never told when creating my business. It took years of feeling lonely and unsure and paying for random courses that didn’t end up helping much before I finally allowed myself to lean into community.

Don’t be like me.

Find your community and find it early. Whether that’s through an online coaching group, an in-person accountability group, a local network of fellow small business owners… however you connect start doing that now.

Sometimes it takes a few tries to find the right group. That’s okay, remind yourself that just because 1 group wasn’t right for you doesn’t mean your people don’t exist.

Don’t get discouraged: You’ll find them.

And at the end of the day, make sure that what you’re doing is bringing you joy.

Because if there isn’t joy in your work, life feels flat.

When you’re ready to create gorgeous images that showcase the heart of your brand and bring in your ideal clients, let’s talk. I can’t wait to create with you.
