Holiday Marketing Already?

The Importance of planning your holiday marketing in advance

If you’re anything like me, you don’t even want to think about winter or winter holidays until you’ve had plenty of time to lean into fall and spooky season.

AND

If you’re a business owner you also know that planning your marketing ahead is a really great way to not lose your damn mind come November.

So now, in September, it is a great time to carve out an hour of your day and decide on the direction your holiday marketing is going to go.

Great things to journal on or brain dump about:

  • Are you going to run any specials?

  • Do you have any new products or offers dropping for the holidays?

  • Will you be hosting any holiday events?

    • Will these be ticketed or free?

    • If ticketed, how far in advance will you make tickets available?

    • How many people can sign up?

  • How are you celebrating your employees or clients for the holidays?

  • What style of marketing do you want to lean into for all of this?

    • Will it be a lot of BTS reels, crafted video ads, still images, flyers, or a combo of all of it?

And then the planning can commence!

I use Notion to organize all my marketing, and I keep it all in calendar view so any given day I can look at it and see what I have prepared, scheduled, or still needs done for all of my media marketing (email, social media, blogs).

Find an organization system that works for your brain and your needs!

And then get to work. Because the holidays are right around the corner.

Here are some ways to make sure they don’t catch you off guard and stress you out (at least when it comes to marketing your business).

  • Block off 2 hours of your week to map out your holiday specials, events, and promos.

  • Hire pros to help you where you need it when it comes to ad creation. Videographers, photographers 😉, graphic designers, social media managers, etc. Schedule time with them in October so that you have what you need before November hits.

  • Block of another 2 hours once that’s done to write the copy for all your holiday ads. Include your email newsletter, your blog, and your social media captions.

  • Once the copy is all done, block off an afternoon (or morning if that works better for you) to create all the media. Record reels, create carousel graphics, make flyers. All of it. If 1 blocked afternoon isn’t enough time, block off that same amount of time the following week.

You have 6 weeks left before November hits.

If you start this next week, you can have everything created by mid-October. Then when the holidays roll around you’ll be all set to just schedule everything out and focus on your holiday rush.

This will open up doors for you. Instead of struggling through the holidays just trying to stay afloat, you can have that time to focus on being with the people you love, pouring into your business, and keeping yourself balanced. We don’t realize how draining doing ALL the marketing pieces for our businesses can get.
