Self-Care for women in Washington

We hear the term self-care on a daily basis at this point, but what does it actually mean?

When I ask women what they do for self-care, I’m often met with blank stares and confused looks.

I’ve heard it all:

“I don’t have time to take care of myself.”

“There’s too many other things to juggle to worry about me.”

“All that self-care crap is just a ruse to get us to spend more money.”

“I wouldn’t even know where to start anymore.”

What these conversations tell me is this:

Women are continuing to put ourselves last.

And listen, I am guilty of it too. Just this week I got a massage – my third professional massage ever – and I only went because my massage therapist friend gifted it to me for my birthday.

I have a lot of anxiety, tension, back pain, etc. But does that mean I would pay to have someone help me with that? Hell no.

But when I went to my massage appointment, I remembered that I get to pour into me too; so I booked another massage, which I will pay for, for next month.

Guess what happened?

The world didn’t end. My bank account didn’t scream at me. My husband was happy to hear that I made that appointment. My daughter was unaffected.

Getting massages are 1 single form of self-care that I am giving to myself.

Other things I do as acts of self-care?

  • I meditate most mornings (working on getting back to every day).

  • I exercise at least 2 or 3 times a week.

  • I make time in my day to read – something I absolutely love doing but rarely made time for before.

  • I set healthy boundaries in my life, both business and personal.

  • I honor my emotions and ask for the things I need.

  • I drink a lot of water and try to nourish my body with healthy food instead of junk (of course those ice cream runs and Lotus drinks happen, too. It’s called balance).

Because self-care is a whole-human experience.

It’s not just about pampering yourself or eating healthy or your spiritual practice or giving yourself little treats or hanging out with the people you care about.

It’s all of it. All at once. Creating a life rooted in self-care instead of working self-care into your life.

Which is why Radiance Retreats approach self-love as a whole human experience, too

We join together in community as we learn about ways to live better, discover more about who we are, and dream bigger.

We gain valuable tools and resources that will help guide our lives to that more fulfilled place.

We remember who the fuck we are.

And we do it all surrounded by other women who are ready to lift us up, cheer us on, commiserate with us, and bring us back to ourselves. Every time.

Because the retreat experience doesn’t end when you go home.

It keeps going, through the private online community where women who have attended Radiance Retreats can post about life and plan sisterhood meetups throughout the year. So that the community can continue being nurtured.

The transformations women have experienced at Radiance Retreats have been phenomenal

  • Some have quit soul crushing jobs.

  • Others have formed new businesses and nonprofits.

  • A few have left toxic relationships.

  • Many have strengthened relationships with partners, children, and friends.

  • Women have quit unhealthy habits.

  • And most of them have come back to me and said some form of “this retreat changed my life.”

This isn’t the movement I set out to create. I was just looking for something that didn’t exist and decided to create it myself. The people who have helped me, the women who have attended, and the support of our little community, are the ones who truly took it and turned it into something bigger than me.

And now the 2026 Radiance Retreats are open for registration
