Photo Post: Never stop playing
I’ve mentioned before that I approach senior portrait sessions the same way I approach my self-love portraits. The reason I do that is because the 2 types of sessions have the same purpose. They’re designed to lift up the person in front of my camera, help them feel gorgeous in their own skin, and show off what makes them uniquely beautiful.
My senior session with Lola did not disappoint.
Self-Care Reminders for 2024 (and always) | Tri-Cities, WA Women’s Retreat Host
So this is for the humans who are struggling. The ones who are pouring into everyone around them. The ones who are just trying to keep their head above water. The overwhelmed, the burned out, the empty cups. The moms or dads doing it alone. Those with unsupportive family members. Those with no family members. Those who have lost loved ones. Those who have almost lost themselves.
Photo Post: Bee Fused Permanent Jewelry Branding
This year I’ve had the opportunity to work with an amazing woman who’s doing big things and making huge moves in her business. She’s a badass, compassionate, gorgeous lady who entered the world of permanent jewelry with a purpose.
How to embrace your weird for more authentic pictures | Eastern WA branding photographer
One of the biggest reasons for a branding photography session (outside of making your life easier with made-for-you marketing images) is showcasing what makes you uniquely wonderful. This helps draw in your ideal clients, the people you want to serve the most. To do this, I highly encourage my clients (and you!) to embrace their weird. Lean into it. Get as weird – or as unweird – as you truly want to be.
But how do you do this?
Let’s talk about it.
Photo Post: Theater and nature collide in these senior portraits
Senior pictures have become a celebration of the young person and all of the hopes and dreams they have for themselves. They’re on the precipice of adulthood and they’re thrilled to be entering this long-awaited step toward independence and the “real world”. In other words, it’s a really big deal and they’re ready to celebrate.
These pictures are marking a shift in a young life and showing the world just who the teen is. Which is why it’s so important that their personal style and individuality is taken into consideration. Not just to get a great picture, but to celebrate all the things that make them uniquely wonderful.
3 ways to be more authentic in front of the camera | Tri-Cities, WA branding photographer
Being in front of the camera comes naturally to a lot of people who grew up with smartphones and selfies, but for many of us it still feels weird and uncomfortable. My clients often say that one of the things that has stopped them thus far from getting updated images of themselves is that they feel awkward having their pictures taken. They’re not necessarily self-conscious – although that’s nothing to be ashamed of – but they just don’t know how to be themselves when there’s a camera being shoved in their face.
So today, I’m here to help.
Here are some helpful tips to being more authentic in front of the camera:
Photo Post: Group Branding at Studio Bespoke
I think my favorite part of the group branding sessions I had this year was the connection I watched happen between the women who attended. They all got to know each other in a way that otherwise wouldn’t have happened, which is a huge deal to me. My goal with these was to give small business owners a chance to get gorgeous pictures at a lower cost than a full session while also providing some connections with other entrepreneurs.
5 Ways to showcase your business this holiday season
Normally I wouldn’t even THINK about talking winter holidays until like November 20th.
They’re just not my thing.
But you know what is my thing?
Pictures. Lifting up other businesses. Making business owners’ lives easier. Creating gorgeous images for you to use in your marketing.
The Best Holiday Season
Fall holidays are my favorite, and they all have beautiful meanings that go beyond getting candy or playing dress up. Over the next week we’ll see Halloween, Dia De Los Muertos, and Samhain. All of which are celebrated around the same few days, and are so important to me personally. We’ve already passed all of the fall holidays that the Jewish religion celebrates (of which there are several), and the Hindu celebration Diwali is coming up next month. And those are just a few of the myriad fall holidays people celebrate.
If you’ve never looked into the history of whatever fall celebrations your family has, I urge you to do so. You’re guaranteed to learn something new, and it might help you find some new traditions you can weave into your celebrations to help them be extra special.
Holiday Branding made easy
On November 7th, 8th, and 9th I will be traveling around the Tri-Cities capturing gorgeous branding images for up to 12 businesses.
These are designed to help you kickstart your holiday marketing, get fabulous images to entice shoppers to spend their valuable time and money with you, and make you feel confident and ready for the holiday rush.

Remember to live joyfully and authentically. Be you, whoever that is, and be proud of who you are. Be a good human and love others. Let’s join together to create a better, safer, more inclusive world.
Great branding and visibility
Having a recognizable brand, a brand that evokes emotions, a brand that makes people WANT to work with you… those are the things that will get your business in front of more people. Which means your visibility will skyrocket if you have something interesting to say and pair it with something beautiful to showcase.
Which leads perfectly into your branding images. 😉
Photo Post: Realty with personality
This was such a fun branding session because each location was so different that we were able to capture so much of Claire’s personality and what makes her amazing and unique. She wasn’t afraid to laugh at herself or change her outfit in the middle of the desert. We had a blast.
How to get your best headshot
When you’re not quite ready for a full branding session, but need professional images to get you started, a simple headshot session may be just the ticket.
But you don’t want boring old pictures, even if it’s simple. So how do you get that great headshot?
I’m so glad you asked! These are some of the tips I give my clients to help them get started on being comfortable and authentic in front of the camera.
Networking and Free Headshots
I offered to cohost these monthly networking events because I love to bring people together. I love connecting people with others who can help them on their journey. And I know so many people in different circles that I knew if we could get them all together we could make magic happen for everyone.
Women’s Retreat Self-Love Portraits
The 2023 Self-Love Women’s Retreat in Tri-Cities, WA was a chance for women to learn about self-care and self-love, and they each had a chance to step in front of the camera for a personal portrait session.
Even though we’re in the same place and limited to the spaces within the retreat venue for location, we always find a way to personalize the women’s sessions just a little bit. Whether that’s simply switching from inside to outside, adding a little bit of personality, or even removing ourselves from the group altogether to find a quiet secluded area. These women nailed their sessions, and I am so excited to share more of their images here.
Smoke bombs and spooky season go hand in hand
If you’ve been following along for a while, you know I’m a spooky bitch all the time, not just in the fall.
Many of my “Halloween” decorations are actually home décor all year long.
So when September rolls around and it’s finally socially acceptable to talk about spooky season, I am in my element.
This year though… this year I have big plans.
Women’s Empowerment to the Max
I was excited for a lot of reasons. This was my 3rd annual retreat focused on empowering women to find self-care practices that worked for them, step into their power as whole human beings, and begin to live a more fulfilled and joyful life. I had already helped over 20 women between my first 2 retreats and I was about to help another 10. Except this time was different. This was the first self-love retreat I hosted at which I didn’t know over half of the women who purchased tickets. In fact, most of them were complete strangers to me. Not friends, not friends of friends, not related to friends.
Total strangers.
Juneteenth Program Recap
If you haven’t been to one of their programs, I implore you to attend next year’s. Keep an eye on their social media pages and block the date off on your calendar once it’s announced.
Now for the best part: the pictures. Check out some of my favorites from my work with Miss Juneteenth this year.
Planning tips for your best portraits
There are some questions I get asked all the time by clients planning their portrait sessions. All my clients get a guide to support them while planning, whether it’s a simple style guide for family portraits or a full story-planning workbook for branding sessions.
But everyone reading this may not be my client, or you may be considering working with me (or another photographer) but still have some reservations about a portrait session in general. So to ease your mind and help you plan your ideal portrait session, I’ve put together a list of tips and tricks to help you out.
